GCET (GUJARAT COMMON ENTRANCE TEST) Selection Process

For admission to MBA, determination of merit will be calculated as below:

No.       Component        Weightage

1. Written Test (WT)  80%

2. Group Discussion (GD)  10%

3. Personal Interview (PI)  10%

                    Total 100%

GDPI will be conducted for all MBA applicants who have taken the entrance test.

All the three components are compulsory for admission to MBA. In other words, if a

candidate is absent in one or more components, his/her name will not be included in the

merit list.

The logic for removing ties in the scores will be as under:

1. Higher score in the written test

2. Higher marks in PI

3. Higher marks in GD

4. Higher marks (total) in XIIth Std.

5. Higher marks (total) in Xth Std.

6. If there is still a tie, all such candidates will be given the same rank and the final rank

will be determined at the time of counselling based on graduation percentage.

Pattern

The test will include questions on Reading and Comprehension, Language Proficiency,

Numerical Ability, Data Analysis, Data Sufficiency, Critical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Psychological Aspects, General Knowledge and General Business Environment.

The entrance test will be in English. However, Gujarati version of the same test paper will be provided to the candidates who opt for Gujarati medium in the application form. The test on Reading and Comprehension and Language Proficiency will be in English only.

The duration of the test will be three hours.

There will be 250 questions of objective nature, with each question having four alternative answers.

There will be negative marking of 25% of the marks allotted to the question for wrong answer.

All the above aspects will have almost equal weightage in the test.
