JMET 2006 General Information

Appearing for Joint Management Entrance Test 2006 (2006) is the first step in the process of seeking admission to the Post-Graduate Programmes in Management offered by


IISc Bangalore,
IIT Bombay,
IIT Delhi,
IIT Kanpur,
IIT Kharagpur,
IIT Madras and
IIT Roorkee.

The IISc and participating IITs will use the results of JMET 2006 to short list candidates for the subsequent part of the selection process(es). Applicants should note that they have to apply for and send separate application forms to different IITs and IISc as per their choices.
An applicant can apply to as many programmes as desired by him / her subject to  fulfillment of eligibility requirements.

Application/Registration Process

There are two different processes by which a candidate can apply/register for JMET 2006, namely, "offline" and "online". Details of these processes are given under How-to-Apply. The registration-cum-application fee for offline applications is Rs.800/- for General candidates and Rs.400/- for SC/ST candidates. The fee for online application is Rs. 700/- for General candidates and Rs. 300/- for SC/ST candidates. The registration fee is not refundable and the application form is not transferable.

Candidates can appear in the examination only against valid admit cards. Candidates generally receive Admit Cards by last week of November 2005. If they do not receive it by 1 December 2005, they should contact GATE Office IIT Bombay.

Although JMET 2006 is held at different centres all over India, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is the Organizing Institute, and has overall responsibility of conducting JMET 2006. In case of any claims or disputes arising in respect of JMET 2006 it is hereby made absolutely clear that the Courts and Tribunals in Mumbai and Mumbai alone shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to entertain and settle any such disputes or claims.
