Eligibility for Technical Education in Assam

To be eligible for the admission to any of the Engineering College in Assam a candidate must fulfil the conditions:-

  • Be an Indian Citizen and a permanent resident of Assam
  • Pass the Higher Secondary Examination of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council or its equivalent, in which the subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics have been cleared in the same sitting.
  • Pass the qualifying Examination securing at least 50% & (45% in case of SC and 40% in case of ST) marks in the aggregate of the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the same sitting.
  • Must appear in the Joint Admission Test conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Assam and be selected for admission.
  • Must not be above 21 years or below 17 years of age on the First August of the year in which the candidate seeks admission. Upper age limit mentioned in (5) above are relaxed to 22 years in case of B.Sc. passed Candidates. Upper age limit mentioned in (5) above are relaxed by 3 years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Candidates.
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Must be physically and mentally fit.

A candidate must not be under weight or over weight. The height and weight should be within limits for good health as per insurance chart for height, weight and age relation.
