NIT MCA COMMON ENTRANCE TEST
ENTRANCE TEST FOR ADMISSION TO MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS(MCA)
PROGRAMME IN NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (NITs)

National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are premier technical Institutions of National repute. The NIMCET is a National Level Entrance Test conducted by NITs for admission to MCA programme offered by NITs. Applications in the prescribed format are invited for NIMCET-06, a common entrance test for admission to MCA Programme for the session 2006-07 in the following NITs:
MNNIT Allahabad
NIT Durgapur
NITK Surathkal
MANIT Bhopal
NIT Jamshedpur
NIT Tiruchirappalli
NIT Calicut
NIT Rourkela*
NIT Warangal
*subject to availability of the programme at Rourkela

ELIGIBILITY
Candidates with an aggregate of 60% marks ( 6.5/10 CGPA) in Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration from a recognized University in any discipline, with Mathematics as one of the subjects both in graduation and at 10+2 level are eligible. Those candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examinations in 2006 are also eligible to appear for the test. However, they will have to furnish proof of eligibility at the time of counselling / admission. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to appear for the NIMCET 2006.

MODE OF SELECTION / ADMISSION
Admission to the MCA Programme at the above mentioned NITs is based on the rank obtained by the candidates in the NIMCET- 06 and as per the criteria of selection prescribed by the respective NITs. NIMCET-06 application is for entrance test and for admission to MCA programme at the above NITs.

TEST CENTRES (Tentative List)
NITs at Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Hamirpur, Jaipur, Jallandhar, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Nagpur,Rourkela, Surat, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal.

HOW TO APPLY
Candidates can download the Application form, Syllabus for the Test and Information Brochure from the following websites: www.mnnit.ac.in, www.manit.ac.in, www.nitc.ac.in, www.nitdgp.ac.in, www.nitjsr.com, www.nitk.ac.in, www.nitt.edu, www.nitrkl.ac.in, www.nitw.ernet.in, Candidates can also apply online only at www.nitc.ac.in. Duly filled in applications should be sent to the Convenor, NIMCET- 06, NIT CALICUT,NIT Campus post – 673 601, KERALA along with an application fee of Rs.700/- (Rs. 350/- for SC/ST), in the form of a crossed demand draft drawn on State Bank of India, Chathamangalam (code 2207) or any other nationalized banks in favour of “Convenor, NIMCET-
06” payable at Calicut / Kozhikode, so as to reach the Convenor by 27th March 2006.
