From the Academic Session 2004-2005, Indian Institutes of Technology have started conducting a Joint Admission Test to M.Sc. (JAM) for admission to M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc. programmes at the IITs. The Joint Admission Test to M.Sc. 2006 (JAM 2006) will be held on March 26, 2006 (Sunday) for admission to the below mentioned Academic Programmes for the Session 2006-2007. The Test is open to Indian Nationals, irrespective of caste, creed and gender. There is no age restriction.
Structure of JAM 2006 JAM 2006 will have the following eight Test Papers of three hours duration each. A candidate may appear at the most, in two Test Papers (with payment of additional fee for the second Test Paper), subject to the restrictions of the Test schedule. Pattern of Test Papers
Biotechnology and MCA Test Papers will be of Objective Type with multiple choice questions only. Remaining six Test Papers namely, Chemistry, Geology, Geophysics, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematics and Physics will be of Objective-cum-Subjective type with a weight-age of 30% only for the Objective Type questions. There will be negative marking for wrong answers to Objective type questions in all the Test Papers.
